Patricia Heaton is currently starring in the
Off-Broadway run of Theresa Rebeck's
critically acclaimed The Scene, opposite Tony
Shalhoub.
The pair lead the cast of this dark comedy in which Patricia portrays
the role of Stella, wife to Charlie -
an out-of-work New York
actor who has an affair with a fresh-faced young
woman from Ohio and finds himself more morally and
spiritually lost than he was before.
The comedy was one of the best received
works at the 2006 Humana Festival of New American
Plays in Louisville, Kentucky. Charles Isherwood of the
New York Times called it "sharply observed,
often blisteringly funny play....a small but searing
drama peopled by everyday characters and driven by
an off-the-rack plot."
The Scene officially opened at the Second Stage's West 43rd
Street theatre as of January 11. The closing night will be February 11
2007.
Rebecca Taichman, who directed the Louisville
production, is also directing the play in New York.
