Patricia Heaton to Star Off-Broadway

From Long Island housewife Debra Barone to off-Broadway's Second Stage Theatre.

Patricia Heaton, who won two Emmy Awards for her work on the long-running CBS sitcom, "Everybody Loves Raymond," will star in "The Scene," Theresa Rebeck's critically acclaimed play about ambitious up-and-comers in the entertainment industry.

"The Scene" opens Jan. 11 at Second Stage's West 43rd Street theater. Preview performances begin Dec. 12. The comedy was one of the best received works at the 2006 Humana Festival of New American Plays in Louisville, Ky. Rebecca Taichman, who directed the Louisville production, will also direct the play in New York.

In "The Scene," Heaton portrays the producer of a morning TV news show.
